FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND COST CONTROL IN CRISIS
With Pateel Papazian
Date: December 6 | Time: 1400 to 1700

This workshop will help participants identify the different decisions that will have to be taken in times of crisis including amending the existing budget and formulating cut back strategies to fit the current situation. The workshop will help organisations find different ways to compensate for the funding shortages that it might be facing, prioritising business continuity and sustainability.

About the instructor:

Pateel Papazian has professional experience both in Lebanon and the USA. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the state of California, she holds an EMBA degree from AUB. Pateel’s curriculum as a financial trainer includes, among other things, seminars on Finance for Non- Finance Professionals and Financial Management for non-profits. Pateel is fluent in four languages: English, Arabic, French and Armenian.

CONTINGENCY PLANNING: WHAT IS PLAN B?

Date: December 13 | Time: 0900 to 1200

The workshop will cover how to prepare, analyse, develop, implement and review the contingency plan. It will provide organisations with a framework to reassess their risks and think of ways on how to respond to them. The main risk areas facing all organisations will be discussed and prioritised to allow participants to ensure organisational resilience.

About the instructor:

Fadi Adra is a Partner with Strategy& and a member of the Public Sector practice. He has deep expertise in pensions, municipalities, labor, and social services, as well as restructuring and transformation of public-sector entities.
In addition to his client work, he has authored multiple reports, including from traditional to impact philanthropy, moving social services beyond and government.

A CONVERSATION WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR: HOW TO ENGAGE WITH THE LEBANESE DIASPORA?
With Christina Chehade
Date: December 17 | Time: 1400 to 1700

This workshop will pinpoint the key components needed to engage with individuals, companies and institutions, both locally and globally. It will allow organisations to learn about the different ways of engaging with the private sector through: cooperation, collaboration, and eventually partnership. What organisations need to have prepared prior to approaching any entity. Participants will learn about how to create a solid pitch: that is short, concise and engaging. Bottom line: Why does your organisation exist today? And why should it continue to exist tomorrow?

About the instructor:

Christina has more than 12 years experience in financial advisory and venture capital. She is currently a Director at Endeavor Lebanon, leading the Partnerships, Mentor and Investor Networks. Prior to Endeavor, she was a Venture Partner for MEVP, a Beirut-based venture capital fund. Before her return to Lebanon, Christina was an M&A Associate Director at Nomura Code Securities in London, leading several Biotech transactions and an M&A Associate covering healthcare, consumer goods and retail at HSBC Investment Banking in London and Paris.

GOOD GOVERNANCE AND TRANSPARENCY
With Dr. Nasser Yassin
Date: December 20 | Time: 1500 to 1800

This workshop will cover the effective ways to engage with members of the organisation, the advisors and the board of directors (BOD). Participants will be able to explore creative ways on how board members can utilise their skills, networks and time to help the organisation move forward. The workshop will allow participants to detect which criteria must be used to assess the BOD’s performance during times of crisis. It will also touch on the effective ways of communication to ensure transparency towards the public and the organisation’s different stakeholders.

About the instructor:

Dr. Nasser Yassin is the Director at the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs and Associate Professor of policy and planning at the Health Management and Policy Department at the AUB. His research and practice interests are within the area of public policy making and governance in countries and societies in transition. Nasser has advised a number of international organizations such as the UNDP, UN-HABITAT, UNFPA and ILO as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations on subjects related to social and human development, post-conflict rehabilitation, and community development.
